Faculty of Art on the Web 2020

We invite you to the eighth edition of the festival. The Faculty of Arts in the City presents the artistic and scientific achievements of the Faculty of Arts of the Pedagogical University in Krakow. This year, due to the pandemic and the resulting limitations, the event was held in a virtual form.

Exhibitions, which we usually organized in city galleries and institutions, were shown online this time. We have opened 30 virtual exhibitions for you.

The nature of the projects reflects the diversity of creative and design attitudes in all directions, and is also a record of the current situation of our students, artists and designers. Below is a video documentation of this massive online event.

We built the galleries in the VR environment of Mozilla Hubs. Visitors enter the space using selected avatars and explore created spaces, viewing works of art and design works displayed in subsequent rooms.

Who created the performance of an open, free art festival?

Michał Hyjek – represents the field of Digital Design at the Faculty of Art of the UP Kraków, in the Project of the Faculty of Art on the Web – the author of the concept of a digital multi-room exhibition, managing 3D works, but also a performer of scans of public space.

Maciej Gniady – PhD student at the Intermedia Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, together with Michał Hyjek, they worked on the optimization of 3D scans and point clouds for the Mozilla Hubs platform. The impossible has become a fact – the 3D model of some scanned locations, such as the Bielak arcade in Krakow, “weighs” 10 MB and opens on most smartphones and VR goggles. He also co-created solutions in some locations, such as the Bubbles exhibition or the Moss and Lichen concert.

Marcin Mądzik – 1st year Art & Design student – responsible for the level design, work placement. His invaluable skills made the sky wave, Prof Olkuska’s sculptures looked from behind the gallery’s glass, and the users were haunted by red light.

Łukasz Bis – from the University of Information Technology and Management (Vice-Dean of the College of Media and Social Communication for Computer Graphics and Multimedia Production) provided the necessary resources and know-how regarding laser scanning, which is the future of transferring information about the physical world to digital media.
